ARTWORKS Anchorage

Anchorage’s performing arts organizations have gathered during the COVID-19 crisis to create a new annual event celebrating the greater arts community in our city. Our goals are to raise support for the arts by increasing visibility for the numerous arts organizations and artists whose work enhances life in Anchorage, and to build advocacy for the arts through community engagement.

Why Artworks? Because:
ARTWORKS for community
ARTWORKS for the economy
ARTWORKS for education
ARTWORKS for all

How Organizations can participate:
-Create a video, up to 15 minutes, telling us who you are, why the arts are important to Anchorage and express what the arts mean to you, wrapping up with one or more of the taglines listed above. Your video can be as simple or as elaborate as you want! Please include the #artworksanchorage hashtag and post on social media!

How Artists can participate:
-Show us your work! Play a song on your porch, take photos of your visual art, dance in your driveway, give us a tour of your garden, show off your culinary art, perform a monologue in a dog park – whatever you want to share! Post on your own social media throughout the day using the #artworksanchorage and #shareyourart hashtags.

How Everyone can participate:
-Individuals and families are strongly encouraged to post their art – any kind – on social media AND/OR post something about your favorite arts organizations in Anchorage and why you support them. Please use the #artworksanchorage and #findyourart hashtags. Whether it’s a chalk drawing in your driveway, a song on the patio, a finger painting, a family flash mob, or testimony about your love of the arts, let’s see it!

7:30 Round of Applause for the Arts / Curtain Call
To honor curtain for the theatres and performance venues that are dark today, open your window, go out on your porch, and acknowledge the curtains that won’t go up with a round of applause or cheer for the arts in our community.
